I was reading the April/May Issue of Belle Magazine over the weekend and was mesmerised (again) by a Isay Weinfeld www.isayweinfeld.com house in Sao Paulo Brazil. When we started the renovation process for Paddington our brief to our architect Luigi Rosselli www.luigirosselli.com and our landscapers Secret Gardens www.secretgardens.com.au included a lot of images of the legendary Brazillian Architect Isay's houses. Now when i look at his houses again i am even more mesmerised and inspired... and dare i say it to do another build!!?

Isay's style has been described as 'Tropical Modernism'; he is so in demand that he rejects more jobs than he takes on and has a very strict philosophy when taking on new clients “It’s like a marriage,” he says “We have to be a match. We may have to work together for years, and we must think in the same direction.” Isay even roams the globe with his clients hunting down furniture in flea markets from Paris to New York to Buenos Aires..now that is a dedicated architect!

'Grecia House' which was featured in Belle Magazine; it's in Sao Paolo and is set on over 4,000 sqm of land

The discreet yellow door from the street...you would have no idea what lies in side!

The living room - sofa, marble side tables and shelving all designed by Isay (he has his own furniture range) The wooden coffee table is bought from a vintage store in NY; those plastic pipe things (that look like a pool cleaner!) are signature Isay; he trys to make the transition between indoors and outdoors seamless

Another vast living area opens up to lush tropical garden

The outdoor patio...organic but sophisticated minimalism

The huge property had many landmark trees that had to be built around - my girls would love to climb up this beauty!

One of my favourite Isay house's in the same Jardin district in Sao Paulo (pictures from architectural digest.com)..apparently the pool has tropical fish swimming in it (not sure if i would go for this!) the poolside chairs are Willy Guhl cement loop chairs

The exterior of the house - again very unassuming

Living room furnished with Vintage finds from Paris - the fireplace is even French from the 60's; wooden ceilings also an Isay signature (which i love)

My favourite room of this house is the cinema with its sunken lounge (am doing one of these in my next project!) and its bookshelves above the windows - so inviting and cosy; looks like a leather and linen couch - nice;)

Sitting room by patio - love these Harvey Probber cane chairs and these wide limed floorboards

The dining room with floor to ceiling glass windows; the chairs are Wegner (found on a buying trip to NY) and the table is Jorge Zalszupin

loving the wooden kitchen and informal dining

The garden room - perfect for arranging flowers! chairs are Vintage from Paris - the dog is a Brazillian Terrier!

The bathroom mirrors are old horse mangers (original!) OMG those floorboards...

Love the vintage tub and the recessed wall shelf; love the drama of the black sconce lights spotted above

Again simple elegance - love the round lamp its by Max Bill

The raised doorway adds a sense of drama - almost like you are stepping up into a painting; each room in the house is connected by a polished concrete hallway so each individual room/space has a purpose

The polished concrete hallway..the colour in the house is breathed in via the artwork and the myriad of greens from the surrounding garden
