After 3 separate plane rides (Sydney - Dubai - Casablanca - Marrakech) equalling 30 hours of travel we finally arrived in Marrakech, to say we were exhausted would be a gross understatement; i think it was the 5 over layover in Casablanca airport (if you can call it that!?) that was the final nail in the coffin for us but thankfully the Riad at the end of the tunnel was well worth it. We are staying at Riad El Fenn http://el-fenn.com; when we first drove up to the hotel all we saw was a apricot coloured cement wall (me and my hubby were giving each other the 'what the??!!' look) we were escorted through a tiny doorway into what can only be described as paradise...i will let the images speak for themselves!!

One of the pools in one of the many courtyards at Riad El Fenn

Yet another marble tiled pool by the spa or 'hammon' as the Moroccan's call them

Me on the roof top of the Riad having just got off the plane (exhausted)

The Riad is a former mansion that has been converted into a boutique hotel; there is a courtyard in the middle of each building which is loaded with heaps of comfy lounges like this one to relax

Each courtyard is filled with lush greenery - think vines and palms and the odd bowl of oranges;)

The architecture in these old buildings is amazing - many a arched doorway

And the tiles!!..green glazed terracotta in herringbone

Straw pendant lights outside our room

and yes there is a rooftop pool...

Hubby waiting for breakfast to be served on the roof top

But let us not forget the real reason we are here...shopping!!

One of my suppliers in the Souk;)

There are seriously 1000's of shops in the souk..and th jet lag was kicking in right about now

 Ceramics anyone??

Me trekking out to the export factories just outside of Marrakech

Magazine General - a beautiful antique furniture shop run by French expats; most of the pieces are imported from Europe..ok focus Heidi

Me outside the Riad El Fenn (our hotel) see not much in the way of street presence!

The first haul for PaddotoPalmy (pom pom placemats and bags) oh did i mention we have a pink room!?
