Its been another crazy week with non stop calls to DHL wondering where on earth (literally!) is my Moroccan shipment which was meant to arrive weeks ago..am staring to realise that Retail is NOT for the fainthearted..so what was meant to be my Monday Muse is now my Mid Week Muse but hopefully worth waiting for...Isabel is my first Spanish Muse..i thought given my obsession with Spanish Architectural Digest i should probably start featuring some Spanish Muses. Isabel's style can best be summed up in a great quote which was made in AD "A house like a person should blend traditions and modernity...why do a house in just one style? being narrow minded is not the message to pass on to your children" Love it right? as you all know i love to mix up my styles so of course am having a major style crush on Isabel...

Isabel is one of Spain's most well regarded Interior Designers; here she stands in front of her library; loving these recycled mirrored French doors

Her Madrid home which she toiled over for 3 years converting it from a former wax factory to this whimsical vine covered home..its amazing what french doors and shutter can do! Love the landscaping especially the buxus hedging around the pool

Another courtyard on the property - you cant beat hedged bamboo for instant greenery and screening

Isabel's living room a perfect example of how she mixes it up - matte limestone floors with modernist armchairs and Antique Asian side tables; the room is cohesive but not too matchy...am seriously crushing on this velvet couch!

Another stunning living area..18th century french book shelf with custom steel based sofa; love the mirrored coffee table

in the kitchen dining area a 2nd limestone (honed) is used for the floor..bertoia's work well with any table - here they are matched perfectly with steel..beautiful styling too:)

Eames lounge sits beside a 17th Century stone fireplace in the library; the floor is smoky slabs of Noir Belge marble (apparently quite rare!)

The foyer floor ties all of the three stones together (2 x limestones and the Noir Belge marble) which i think looks fab and is very clever; love this Gunther Forg painting and the 18th Century Swedish bench which is upholstered in black raffia

This next house is in Majorca (images from Isabel's website www.isabellopezquesada.com) and is one of my favourites - if i was to re do Palm Beach i would definitely be using this as a mood board

It combines the white limestone floors (tick) with the indigo blue and batik fabrics..i would die for that pair of Saarinen arm chairs

A closer look at these beautiful chairs;)

Such a beautiful fabric selection for the upholstery of these stunning slipper chairs

Wowsers those cushions on that built in couch - stunning - goes to show cushions can make or break a room!

Speaking of cushions and upholstery - that Palm printed fabric?!? i have seen this before in a blue version is anyone knows who is the fabric house please let me know??!! blue and green perfection;)

Isabel mixing it up again - chipendale chairs with upholstered cast iron bench seats and a lacquered white table i would never think that this would work but it looks amazing

Recycled timber warms up this ensuite - also love the wooden door knobs!

Clever insertion of mirrored wardrobe doors - she is clearly a fan of round mirrors!

Love these old bamboo chairs - no doubt French and Antique;)
