It's time to dress the windows at Paddington and i have to say at the risk of sounding very blonde that this is the most challenging task of the renovation to date. There are so many different styles, colours and textures which give off such different styles/vibes to a room.

I have decided to go down the ready made curtain path from Restoration Hardware www.restorationhardware.com; i picked up some fabric swatches whilst i was in NY as i was so impressed with their linen curtain range (not to mention the price vs custom made in Oz) so now am just trying to wing the mathematics of buying ready made curtains!

We were breakfasting at Bills in Woollahra this morning and a good friend recommended i buy an interiors book which she thought i might love from the adjacent book store - 'Dazzling Design' by Amanda Nisbet www.amandanisbetdesign.com - an American Interior Designer who is famous for her bright colour usage  - the front cover had gorgeous yellow curtains draped behind a cobalt blue couch - i bought it immediately! The Americans just know how to do curtains so this was a very timely purchase - Thanks Denise!!

I also looked to my colour muse American designer Jonathan Adler www.jonathanadler.com who also loves to frame a room with curtains - hope you enjoy the inspiration!

Restoration Hardware linen curtains - these are in Indigo Blue however i will be going for a Sand colour for downstairs and white upstairs in the bedroom's

Dazzling Design by Amanda Nisbet - after seeing this image i was dead keen on having these yellow curtains!! Then after realising that they may be a tad OTT for our Paddington terrace Restoration Hardware does not stock anything in this colour palette

A Hampton's House by Amanda Nisbet - love these blue curtains and still considering these for our sitting room in Paddo (this blue and sisal carpet is a match made in heaven)

Amanda Nisbet blue curtains again - same Hampton's house (love the white, blue and red combo)

This is Amanda Nisbet's New York apartment - those yellow curtains again - love! I am trying to track down some fine bamboo blinds for the girl's bedroom similar to these one - anyone know where i can find them?

Amanda does Red roman blinds in a kids room - gorgeous!

Pink with blue trimming blind - this is her teenage daughter's room in her NY apartment - love the matching bed skirt

Amanda sitting on a beautifully upholstered chair - love the darker blue piping - almost regretting not doing this for my recently reupholstered chesterfield sofa!

A gorgeous blue and white fabric table cloth - this is the entry foyer in the Hampton's home

She can even make patterned curtains look good!

Love this room by Jonathan Adler! The potted plants create such a gorgeous symmetry, i think with that amazing red and white chevron rug you could only ever have white curtains - using another colour would compete too much with that amazing rug

Jonathan Adler and his turquoise curtains - sorry image is tiny!

This is Jonathan Adler's Florida home - can't beat white curtains especially when there are pops of colour in the room

seeing a theme here - Jonathan Adler using yellow curtains - frames the room so beautifully

Here Jonathan Adler matches the curtains with the deep buttoned ottoman (not loving that PVC black chair though!)

Front cover of 'Jonathan Adler on Happy Chic Colors'; Turquoise curtains go so well with the Yellow chairs; as much as i love turquoise i would probably get sick of looking at these everyday after a while!
